1] You're walking along, minding your own business, when suddenly you're zapped across time and space. You find yourself standing in a summoning circle, gazing at the girl who summoned you. You--
... Ew. Human.
tap your foot impatiently.
ask how you can help her.
advise her it isn't in her best interest to summon things.
wonder why she summoned you at all if all she's going to do is scream.
jump all over the place just to confuse her.
ask if she has a Q-tip, because you have some of the space-time continuum stuck in your ear.

2] The girl recovers enough to introduce herself. "My name is Ella. I have a problem and I really need your help.."
"I assume this has something to do with muffins. Right?"
"I'm more of an advice-person.. not a problem-solving person."
"..Get someone else. Really."
"What's the problem?"
"I don't have time for this."
"It better involve killing things."
"Well first, you should get rid of the torn shirt. 'Beggar' is out this ye--.. that wasn't the problem?"

3] "I'm sorry about summoning," Ella explains. "I guess it won't release you unless you grant my request. I'm really sorry. But my brother disappeared a few days ago, and I don't have anyone else. Can you help me find him?" You--
wonder how you of all people got dragged into this.
don't like being forced into anything, but might as well make the best of it.
accept and begin to ask her questions about herself.
accept and impatiently drain her of information so you can get on with it.
nod and offer her a hug.
wonder if killing her would break the spell quicker.
say you'll help her, for a muffin.


4] Eventually Ella begins crying. She tells you, "His name's Rudolf. He goes to Imma High School, and he works at the repair shop next door. But he hasn't been to either in days. His friend Donner saw him last, but he won't talk to me, 'cos I'm only six." You--
"Rudolf the red-nosed reindeee-- what? Don't cryyy, jeez."
wish she could talk faster.
don't really care, but listen anyway.
listen carefully, then reassure her and ask where you can find Donner.
promise to talk to Doug or Daphney or whatever his name was.
don't trust her. No six-year-old can summon things.
assess what you can from her, then leave her there to deal with Donner.


5] Donner is a grungy gamer punk who's busy scarfing down a slimy cheeseburger when you meet him. You--
buy him another cheeseburger and politely hint around the issue.
promptly ask where he last saw Rudolf.
decide to find a less disgusting flow of information.
pull him out of his chair and get straight to the point.
scared him so badly that now he won't talk at all. Oops, or something.
cordially introduce yourself and explain the situation.
bounce around until he's dizzy, then start singing the Rudolf song until he cries.

6] Rudolf was last seen on Bumpy Street at night, talking to some guy with a tail. You--
aren't surprised people are de-evolving into monkeys.
pretend to have a tail.
reassure Ella and keep her close.
thank him and stow Ella in a safe place while you find tail-guy.
quickly find the location of said tail-guy.
keep your eye on Ella, since she's more dangerous than a possible demon with a tail.
think he's hiding something, but leave it alone since he's not your problem.

7] Tail-guy is a bartender at Club Whatsit. He wears a tail as part of his costume. He tells you Rudolf ran away and doesn't want to be found. You--
think this is taking too long, and decide on a quicker method of finding him.
explain you can't leave until he's found, and would appreciate his help.
didn't bother talking to him, since he looked untrustworthy, but decide to 'tail' him later.
tell tail-guy about the little girl Rudolf left behind.
ask if you can play hide-and-seek too.
rough him up until he spills it.
thank him and compliment his tail.

8] However you did it, tail-guy finally takes you to Rudolf. The teenager seems less than happy to see you, and tries to run away. You--
trip him as he runs by.
admonish him for his childish behavior.
ask him how he could possibly do that to Ella.
wait for him to realize you're holding his shirt.
close the door and wait for him to explain himself.
run away with him, then ask, "Where are we going?"
laugh and let him think he can outrun you for a few seconds.


9] Rudolf begs you to let him go and claims he doesn't know an "Ella." You--
explain Ella to him and ask if he doesn't remember other things as well.
rough him up, just because you had to go through all this work.
are rather annoyed by now.
have had enough, and start shaking sense into him.
say, "Well an Ella knows youuu." And make spooky music.
calmly ask why a six-year-old would claim him as a brother.
pretend to be confused. Even though you really are. @.@

10] Rudolf tells you he's being chased by a powerful mage who owned a piece of his soul, and if you take him back he'll never escape. You--
don't really see how that's your problem. You just want to go home. Besides, he probably did something to deserve it.
can't decide who's telling the truth, but resolve to sit both of them down and find out.
hide in his pocket. Mages scare you.
can't waste time figuring out their problems, and drag him back to Ella.
don't really want to be involved in mage squabbles, and resolve to walk away as quickly as possible.
don't like being lied to, even if you suspected it. But Ella will have her comeuppance. ~.~
ask how she came to own his soul in the first place, since maybe that would determine if he deserved it.

11] Ella finds you before Rudolf can answer. She explains that Rudolf is the one who told her how to summon you, and in exchange for your imprisonment, she let him go free. But now she realizes how much she missed him, and wants him back. You--
tell her you don't really care, you did what she asked, and now you're going.
think the entire thing is ridiculous and order her to release you.
explain that ethically he fulfilled his deal, you fulfilled yours, and Ella has no right to hold either of you.
think they're equally crazy and can't wait to get away.
are more inclined to kill them both, since that would probably break the spell AND solve their problems.
think that's sweet and Rudolf should totally go back with her.
think that's both sad and swee--... waitaminute, they're exchanging you now?

12] Ella finally agrees she shouldn't have summoned you to find Rudolf. She lets you go. You--
-poof-
decide not to bring down fire and brimstone upon them, since you would much rather just leave.
rough them up for good measure. You know. Just to be sure they're thankful that you left.
stay anyway and help them resolve their issues.
gladly walk away.
tell Ella you'll see her in a few weeks, smile, and brandish your sickle before you leave.
pet them and wish them luck.
